Once you have created Populations you will be able to refine your data with the various filtering tools in Crossbeam.

In this article:

Add Filters to the Population

From the left-side Navigation Menu, click on the Data icon. This will open the side panel for Data & Sharing, select Populations from the panel options, and your workspace will display the Populations area. Open a Population and click Edit or create a Population from this workspace.

Once in the Population Builder filters, locate the Add Table Filters, and click the dropdown menu to see the options available. You can filter down your Populations by things like Contact Information, Opportunity Size, or Account Owner Name.

Select any of the tables to expand them and see all of the available fields. You can always type directly in the dropdown to search as well.

The Comparison Operator

Next, you will choose what kind of comparison you want to run on the field you selected.

Depending on the type of field you select, there will be different operators available to you.ย

Add Multiple Filters

In some cases, you may want to introduce complex logic by filtering on multiple fields, and even using a combination of logic between your filter groups.

You can continue to add Filter Groups to the Population by clicking the +Add Filter Group button.

If you need more operator logic within a filter, click the and button or the or button within the filter space. This will add a new line with a new filter on it.

Remove or Edit Filters

Click the Trash icon to the right of a filter to remove it. Don't worry, only that one line will be removed, the rest of your filters are safe and sound.

Click the Pencil icon to open the filter and edit the options.

Understanding Operator Values

There are different options available to you as operators depending on the type of field that you choose. If you are filtering on a numeric field, you will be given options like greater than or less than or equal to. On a text field your options will be is or is not, among others. We also offer a datepicker for date fields.

Contains / Does not Contain

To achieve the contains / does not contain logic, you can also add a nested or. When you have is or is not selected, You can add or to build up a list of items to include or exclude from your filter.ย

Filter Logic Within Groups

Drill even deeper by filtering within your filter groups. Within filter groups, your and operators act as chains while or punctuate the chain for additional comparisons. String together a few fields using and to build a sub-filter group that behaves as its own parenthetical. Plug in an or operator to punctuate the previous chain of and fields, serving as the additive operator.
